Can I upload my family tree to Permanent?

At Permanent, we like to say that "if it's made of bits, we'll take it." Permanent.org accepts and stores all file formats, regardless of the software you used to create the file. This goes for your family tree files as well. Learn more about file types that we accept and support here.

However, at this time, we do not support the "play back" or viewing of family tree files such as GEDCOM files on Permanent. You can still upload these files to your Permanent archive, and they will be preserved in their original form. You can also download a copy of your file from your Permanent archive at any time, which you can open and view in whichever software you used to create your family tree.

Permanent does have an integration with FamilySearch where you can easily preserve the memories and personal metadata you've already collected in FamilySearch on Permanent.org. Learn more about the FamilySearch integration here.
